The United States has had a commendable performance in the Olympics, accumulating a total of 19 Gold medals, 26 Silver medals, and 26 Bronze medals. While the US is tied with China in Gold medals, there is notable dominance in other medal categories by the US athletes.
The US has achieved historical milestones in events such as women’s Rugby, clinching their first-ever victory in that category. The USA Swim Team notably set a world record with a Gold medal in the women’s 4×100-meter medley relay, while the men’s team secured a Silver medal in the same event (https://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/40718988/2024-paris-summer-olympics-live-updates-highlights-schedule-results-sunday).
Sunni Lee’s accomplishment of winning a second Bronze medal in the uneven bars makes her the first American to achieve this feat. Her fierce competition with Simon Biles in the All-Around Gymnastics competition was inspiring. Noah Lyles’ victory in the 100-meter dash, with a winning time of 9.784 seconds, showcased exceptional athleticism. The photo finish against Kishane Thompson of Jamaica, with a mere .005 seconds difference, was an exhilarating moment. Also, Fred Kerley, initially a Bronze medalist in the event, secured a Silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the same category.
Remarkable achievements in today’s competition included:
GOLD: Scottie Scheffler, men’s golf
GOLD: Kristen Faulkner, women’s road race
SILVER: Brady Ellison, men’s individual archery
BRONZE: Austen Jewell Smith, women’s skeet final
BRONZE: Suni Lee, women’s uneven bars
