It is amazing how Trump continues to gain the support of the GOP and those less fortunate to wage war against the Judicial, Executive Branches, and frankly the American people. No doubt he is a genius at playing the victim, doubts of our democratic system, inciting hate amongst the general public and at anyone he deems anti-Trump or will not kiss the ring! He has denigrated the Special Counsel, Jack Smith, and many others that have provided testimony against him and now the January 6 U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan. Additional security has been augmented to ensure she stays safe – that comes out of public funds! Aside from condemning the trial in Washington D.C. and reflecting on the city as a “filthy” town he wants Judge Chutkan to recuse herself because of her hardnose role in adjudicating January 6 rioters to harsher punishment. Interesting that he has not asked Judge Aileen Cannon the Miami Classified Documents trial judge to step down after her previous failure to secure a Master Counsel on review of classified documents – a higher Republican lead court admonished her for the decision and dismissed the Master Counsel. Were her actions repayment to the man that assigned her to the bench or maybe a way to delay judicial justice? She demonstrated partiality during the initial phases of his Classified Documents case in Miami. You certainly haven’t heard Trump complaining about her decisions since they are advantageous for him. Judge Cannon still ended up as his current trial judge – why didn’t the DOJ object based on her previous lack of sound judgment or her selective favorable outlook towards Trump? Judge Cannon has managed to secure favor for the Trump team moving the case far into the future (May 2024) where Trump might be the GOP Candidate for the Presidency and then very little can be done even if he were found guilty. All based on Trump and his litigator’s protests on the volume of material they needed to review for trial. Always pushing for a later date with whatever they can find an excuse to do so, they will attempt to push any further indictments and charges until after the Presidential election with the hopes Trump will win the Presidency and be able to somehow “pardon” an unprecedented action in any case. In the Classified Documents case his codefendant, Walt Nauta took nearly three weeks before he was able to appear in court stating his plead of “Not guilty” for reasons he could not attain a Florida-approved attorney – doesn’t Trump know any? Now, a second newly charged codefendant in the Classified Documents case Carlos De Oliveira needs to acquire a Florida-licensed attorney to represent him as well. His representation has been supported by Trump or his SuperPAC which has been reported to have paid 40 million plus for Trump’s legal fees. Trump is a billionaire why can’t he afford his own paid-for attorneys? Is the fact that a SuperPAC paying his legal fees a violation of campaign laws? Small people with small budgets are filling his coffers so that he can denigrate our very own judicial, governmental, and executive institutions.
His remarks about the indictment and ensuing D.C. trial generated a no less than expected remark from Trump, “NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL, OR EVEN CLOSE TO A FAIR TRIAL, IN WASHINGTON, D.C.,” as he ranted on his Truth Social media site. They want to move the trial where he can get a fair shake to West Virginia where he won 69% on his previous Presidential runoff. He only received 5% of the vote in the District of Columbia which brandishes a more democratic value system. He continues his assault on the American public as a whole and on anyone questioning his character and role in the electoral process of 2020. Friday he posted on his site, “If you go after me, I’m coming after you!” Is that a threat against witnesses, the grand jury, or any litigators involved in any one of the three cases he has been indicted on? Yes, prosecutors have sought protective orders to safeguard testimony and to prevent Trump or his legal team from recklessly disclosing witness testimony to the public where Trump loves to have his court of opinion and endanger those on the documentation.
The Trump legal team keeps reiterating his First Amendment rights being obstructed and his right to free speech. What you hear from him is victimization or someone else’s fault. Currently, Trump and his attorneys are floating the idea that he only acted on the advice of his attorneys therefore he is not guilty of following legal advice! First Amendment Rights do not give you the right to use the ‘dog whistle’ mentality and endanger people’s lives. He has successfully done that many times once he started running for the Presidency. There have been several mass killings attributed to his dog whistle in these mass murderers’ manifestos. I remember a mass murder committed in New Zealand picking up on Trump’s extreme rightist positions. The New Zealand murderer killed 51 people. His manifesto titled “The Great Replacement” was strongly grounded on hatred of Muslims and anti-immigration. He wanted to remove immigrants from “white” countries. This message still prevails with Trump’s Make America Great Again movement (MAGA). It has given rise to many anti-government militias within the United States such as the KKK, Ayrian Race, Proud Boys, and the Oath Keepers to mention a few.
- Trump’s unethical behavior and doings are reprehensible. To try and steal an election so that he could remain in the Presidency is just inconceivable. Though we had and continue to sow that sort of violence, unprofessional conduct in our democratic government. Republicans might not be saying anything for fear of – losing their job, their power, Trump’s approval! That makes them complicit through their lack of intestinal fortitude!
