Simone Biles Takes Gold At The World Championships!

Simone Biles has made gymnastics Gold once again. She coveted her eighth U.S. Gymnastics Championship with an awesome showing of skill, strength, and a lot of heart. Biles has not fully committed to the Paris Olympics in 2024 but now that sure seems to be the goal.

Simone Biles made quite a showing in 2013 at the age of 16 winning two golds at the World Championships. Her winning streak was to accelerate with four gold wins at the World Championships in 2014 followed by another five golds in 2015.  At the 2016 Olympics in Rio, she won gold in the all-around, team competition, vault, floor, and a bronze medal on the beam. Once the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart came about Biles ended championing the event with five golds including the all-around title. She included in her routine several wow acrobatics that captured the admiration of fans, competitors, and judges alike. She made her presence known! In 2020, Tokyo Olympics Simone Biles managed to capture another two gold medals for the U.S. However, she was in her words haunted by the “twisties.” She ended up withdrawing from the competition and later to show and win a bronze on the balance beam. A lot was happening at the time and adding to the stress was a Congressional Hearing with many of the claimants had made against the U.S. Olympic Committee and Nassar, the team doctor who sexually abused hundreds of young gymnasts over the years and complaints of the abuse known to the Olympic Committee.

The tiny 4-foot 8-inch-tall Biles seems to have overcome those demons. She has gotten married and at the age of 26 commanded a phenomenal showing of her gymnastics skills. We look forward to seeing her at the Paris Olympics and winning more gold – Break a Leg Simone!
