Senator Romney (R-UT) announced today he will be retiring at the end of his current term which ends in November 2024. He had been the Republican presidential nominee in 2012 who ran against and lost the bid to Barack Obama. Romney talked about transitioning to a younger generation stating, “At the end of another term, I’d be in my mid-80s. Frankly, it’s time for a new generation of leaders.” He asked that President Biden and Trump do the same and make way for a younger generation to face the ongoing challenges of the nation. In his interview, he also slighted his own Republican Party expressing they no longer follow the Constitution and have set it aside. The GOP no longer stands for the values it once did on
‘smaller government, liberty, economic prosperity, preserving American values and traditions, and restoring the American dream for every citizen of this great nation. As a party, we support policies that seek to achieve those goals. Our platform is centered on stimulating economic growth for all Americans, protecting constitutionally guaranteed freedoms, ensuring the integrity of our elections, and maintaining our national security. We are working to preserve America’s greatness for our children and grandchildren.’

The above is straight from the horse’s mouth, GOP website. Yet, since the Bush administration they have given tax breaks to the top 1% peddling the idea of trickle-down economics. We have not seen it and as a fact the middle class continues to carry the burden of these tax incentives for the rich weighing heavily on livelihoods. The abortion repeal has had a tremendous effect on the women of this country. States such as Florida, Texas, and Arkansas are legislating reading material at all levels of education. Promoting anti-immigration discourse and law that affects many citizens that are of minority descent. Admittedly, many U.S. citizens do not know one minority from another and get treated with whatever flavor-of-the-month disdain the Republicans are pushing. The point going back to the GOP principles is that they want to guarantee constitutional freedoms for (all) when their actions do not demonstrate such an honorable view. Trump himself on his social media site Truth Social in December 2022, called for a suspension of the Constitution so he could be reinstated as President!
- It is amazing how most Republicans are Trump supporters knowing well the wrong he did as President. It remains to be seen how his children who were government officials and making money off their positions in government will be investigated under the same Republican rules they set for Hunter Biden.
