The PGA and DP World Tour had been somewhat relentless in condemning LIV Golf, Saudi Arabia’s trillion-dollar investment fund (PIF)! Last year several PGA golf champs decided to take the generous membership in LIV Golf for even more money. Jay Monahan, the PGA commissioner expelled them from PGA Tournaments. The remaining golf champs remained loyal to the “democratic” principles espoused by the leadership amidst Saudi’s record of human rights violations and murder.
Families of those lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack are livid about the newfound partnership “for the love of the game – golf!” Primarily because 15 of the 19 terrorists were Saudis. In addition, US Intelligence identifies Mohammad bin Salman as the person who gave the go-ahead for the grisly murder and dismemberment of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Mohammad bin Salman is the Saudi crown prince better known as MBS. Last year during the world and energy crises arising from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, President Biden went to Riyadh to visit with the six-member OPEC Council led by the Saudis. On the table were discussions of the energy crises impacting the US with even harsher implications for Europe. President Biden was hoping to meet the crown prince but not counting on it. In 2018 soon after the Khashoggi murder, he used critical language related to the Khashoggi’s death and those involved. The Saudi crown prince was considered at the center of it. At the time Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and several other Republicans including Marco Rubio (R-Fl) had been critical of President Biden’s visit and lack of US moral virtues! Since Senator Lindsey Graham has once again done a 180 reversal regarding his opinion of the Saudis and visited with the crown prince.
- I just find it extremely hypocritical how loyalty to the US is so convenient for those wanting to make a political statement. Where money leads the decisions for more dinero and power! How the Republicans are saying nothing about this relationship when they were quick to criticize Biden on a trip literally to save the world (Ukraine, Europe, and the US energy crises.)
