Republican Gov. DeSantis continues his onslaught on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in Florida’s educational system. On Monday he signed a bill in no other terms “emancipating” the state from federal and state law that provided gender and cultural consideration to the wide diversity of race and culture that makes Florida’s population. Still, the state remains primarily white because of the older white and female population according to census statistics.
DeSantis referred to Florida as the “Education State” and the number 1 state in education which are both untrue statements. His banning efforts will certainly lead to the degradation of the role DEI has in education. This is the same approach he has taken against Disney and the “Gay” situation where Disney has elected to support gender-neutral employees.
The very same attitude he has taken against the so-called “WOKE. ” Barring their discussions of the past because they can bring past feelings of shame and guilt!
