On July 11, 2023, it was reported that discredited and shamed Lawrence (Larry) Nassar age 59 was stabbed approximately 10 times at a federal prison in Florida. He was stabbed around the neck and upper body. Guards responded promptly more than likely saving his life. He was quickly taken to a medical facility where he has been stabilized. This is not the first time Nassar has faced his demons. Initially housed in a federal prison in Tucson he was also beaten. He was then transferred to his present location and will likely be moved once again.
Nassar had been the US Olympics orthopedic doctor for about 18 years. He was accused of molesting many athletes between 265 – 305 over that same period. It was the constant reports of some of our major Olympic athletes that finally brought the Olympic Committee to investigate even after an FBI investigation had turned out nothing. Olympians that placed a complaint against Nassar were names like Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and many others. In 2017 he was convicted in Federal court to serve a sentence of 60 years, two separate other trials in Michigan convicted him of 40 – 175 years and 40 – 125 years respectively. He will serve the sentences consecutively. Which means no parole or he will never see freedom again. His wife divorced him that same year. He has a son and two daughters.
